Hi! My name is Lauren Rosser and I am in Grade 11. I am a student at Howe Sound Secondary School. I race in both cross-country and downhill disciplines. My cross-country bike is a Rocky Mountain Vertex and yes, that is a hard tail.
I had a very busy year in 2009 with all the High School races, BC Cup races and the Nationals. It was a great year all round with a total of 35 races. The races I competed in took me all around BC and Alberta but the best place was Quebec because it was the furthest away and the biggest races of the year (National Cycling Championships).
My past results for 2009: High School races – I came first in all my races and was Provincial Champion for Grade 10; The BC Cups – I cam first in my races and achieved the title of Junior Women Provincial Champion for 2009. In the month of July I traveled to Quebec for the National races and placed first in all of Canada for the category U 17 in both Cross Country and Downhill and was named National Champion twice. This was my biggest accomplishment of 2009.
I mentor a 12-year-old boy in my spare time and help him with his biking future. I also am training to be a lifeguard for after I graduate.
Squamish is a fabulous place to live because of the great wilderness everywhere around us and it is such a great environment for people to live. If I could give Squamish a rating I would give it the best place to live because of all the great mountain biking, hiking, swimming, soccer and so much more.
Thank you to all the sponsors of Team Squamish for their continued support.
